FOAM CONSTRUCTION
GIRAFFE BUILDS
Life-sized giraffes are created by applying rigid foam over a steel frame.  The faces and hooves were sculpted, molded, and cast.  Those highly detailed pieces are then installed onto the hand-carved hard-foam body.  Installation at Cornerstone Church, San Antonio, TX

The horse's face and hooves are the only items pre-sculpted.  The rest of the body is hand-carved rigid foam.  The tail and mane are wig material woven into stainless steel mesh.

Bellagio Las Vegas "Year of the Horse" installation January 2014.  The gold horse on top stands over 12' tall.  Each of the lower display horses is approximately 7' tall.  Faces and hooves pre-sculpted in clay, molded, and cast.  The bodies of each of these horse figures were individually hand-carved in rigid foam.

Hand-carved foam (with no fur to hide flaws) sealed and hand-wax patina.
